We're niche. We understand that we are not for everyone and everyone is not for us. But with that said, if you believe in our mission and would like to support our efforts, please use the DONATE button at the bottom of our membership page or visit our crowdfunding page

Here's our crowdfunding proposal:

“Straight”… But Not Narrow Ladies is a bi and bi curious femme community for women of color. It was created to provide a safe space for discussion, exploration and meaningful interactions/connections for bi and curious women of color. The intersection of race and sexuality can be interestingly complexed for women of color as they are inherently faced with many challenges. Studies show that bisexuals are the largest group in the LGBTQIA+ community. But with this said, they are the most invisible and underrepresented as their existence and legitimacy is often questioned or even denied by not only heterosexuals but also members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Women of color often struggle to find visibility and representation. In a sense, women of color that fall outside of the heteronormative box are often isolated. They fall subject to the internal and external cultural stigmas, taboos, microaggressions and stereotypes around gender, race, sexuality and sexual expression.
Communities of color are struggling with hunger, employment, violence, systemic racism and the residual effects of slavery, among other challenges. A place and a space to discuss sexual identity, curiosities or preferences is a privilege not afforded to many households. “Straight”… But Not Narrow Ladies recognizes the challenges and the need for safe spaces to discuss the aforementioned issues while creating meaningful connections. We strive to rewrite the toxic narrative of women of color, to empower them to own their truths and to support them in their search for liberation through open non-judgmental dialogue and curated events.
What do we need?
“Straight”… But Not Narrow Ladies needs funding to create our safe spaces and curated events. Specifically, funding will assist us with the following tasks:
  • Host retreats to disconnect from societal pressures/constraints and create space to discuss feelings/emotions, unpack issues and mentally decompress.
  • Create and host curated events across the country to connect with our audience and provide them with opportunities to be seen and heard.
  • Develop branded materials to promote introspective work related to understanding and defining one’s sexuality, finding and embracing one’s authentic self, owning own’s truth, and being an unapologetic bi femme of color.
  • Hire a photographer to capture images reflective of our women of color community for our website and branding.
“Straight”… But Not Narrow Ladies truly appreciates your support. Your contribution makes a huge difference in our work and our ability to extend our reach. We thank you for believing in us, our work, and our community. With you, we can continue to find our voices and know that we are not alone.

“Straight”… But Not Narrow Ladies because sometime girls that look “straight”, aren’t.

Welcome & Check Out Our NEW Logo!!!

Welcome to our new blog!
We thought it would be a great idea to launch our blog and reveal our new logo at the same time. Seemed like a good idea! So get ready for the long transparency post below. It's open, honest and yes... long.
You've been warned!

We're overjoyed about this beautiful new logo! The process creating it was interesting. Coming up with a visual concept that properly reflected our brand/message AND be able to explain and dissect the fundamentals and big picture of said brand and its members to graphic designers was hard af. Having conversations with designers about how THEY believe the logo should look and how THEY felt the brand should be represented was eye opening and at times hurtful. It reminded me of why we created "Straight"... But Not Narrow Ladies.

Women of color tend to over compensate and over explain themselves as a result of not being heard and understood. We are very conscious of how we're perceived and how that perception may hinder us. To be a feminine woman of color that is interested/ attracted to/ sexually active with other feminine women is a huge taboo in many families, social circles, systems, places and spaces. While no one has the right to define or judge you, we all know bias, discrimination, taboos and microaggressions are VERY real. With that said, we applaud those that have found their way to be comfortable in their own skin. To be their authentic selves when and wherever. We celebrate them as that's a victory but we know this isn't everyone's reality as some need to find their way.

We believe that everyone needs a safe space and our focus is to provide that space to bi femmes of color. To offer opportunities to connect with like minded women, express thoughts/desires, explore themselves and their sexuality without judgement and have a place where they can feel liberated while defining or embracing their truths.

We know we are not for everyone and that's ok because everyone is not for us. We recognize that many of our members and potential members are not "out" and that's ok. Yes, we are fully aware that our target audience consists of not only single and dating, but also, situationship and married women of color. The same women of color that often times feel uncomfortable about sharing their sexual preferences with others as a result of all the issues we stated in the previous paragraph. It makes growing our membership extremely challenging (HARD AF) but it is what it is. We understand the discomfort and fear. We realize our families, friends, colleagues and society in general is not open to receive this. So we exist and search for our sisters. We know they need us!

Our logo is our acceptance, support and celebration of the brown and black women that recognize their need for non-judgemental sisters, that know their sexuality isn't confined to a heteronormative box, that are missing something and ready to take the steps needed to embrace their authentic selves! Do you know what we mean? Is this you sis?
